Million Dollar Author is a good fit for you, if:

• You have a book idea—or several ideas and want to narrow it down to the right one.
• You want to write a nonfiction book (not fiction).
• You want to get a traditional publishing deal (not self-publishing).
• You want to write a book that’s so good, people text their friends (“You need to read this!”) the instant they finish reading.
• You’re excited to learn all the different ways you can make money as an author, including your book advance, royalties, and creating an offer that people buy immediately after reading.
• You want to meet agents, acquisitions editors, and other decision-makers who are “in the room where it happens” (to quote Hamilton) where publishing deals get made.
• You recognize that you probably won’t get your book written and published unless you have some coaching, guidance, and accountability to do this.
• You have the funds to do this program and can invest in it responsibly.
• Or, if you don’t have the funds right now, you’re excited to get the money you need (raise your rates, sell a package, nudge a client to pay an overdue invoice…) and make this happen!

This program is NOT for you, if:

• You want to write fiction, poetry, or a children’s book. (This program is for people who want to write nonfiction, which means topics like wellness, parenting, business, money, travel, science, self-help, relationships, etc.)
• You want to self-publish your book. (This program does not cover self-publishing.)
• Your book is intended primarily for family and friends and making money is not a priority. (Nothing wrong with that! But this is not the ideal program for you.)

January 2026: You get access to the Million Dollar Author audio lessons! Like a private podcast, exclusively for MDA clients. Listen in the car, on a walk, whenever it’s convenient.

Please listen to all the audio lessons before the writing retreat, so that when you arrive, you’re inspired and ready to write!

April 2026: Writing retreat in Cascais, Portugal April 20-24. 

After the retreat, attend 3 coworking sessions (dates TBD / virtual) to keep the writing momentum going.

May 2026: Pitch day! Pitch your book idea to literary agents and publishers. (Date TBD / virtual)

June 2026: Celebration and next steps (Date TBD / virtual) with Rachel and Alex.

By this point, you may have a literary agent, a completed book proposal, or a few sample chapters done. You might have a publisher interested in your project, or not yet. 

At our celebration, we’ll review what to do next to keep moving towards the book deal of your dreams.

You will have:

• A clear concept for your book, including what makes your book different from similar titles. 
• Connections with agents, editors, and other publishing industry professionals.
• Relationships with fellow authors, too—new friends who can endorse your book once it’s out, promote it to their audiences, and help you win. 
• Possibly—a literary agent who has agreed to represent you. Or if not, a plan to get one.
• Stronger writing and storytelling skills to create a book that readers can’t put down. 
• A plan to make a LOT of money from your book.
• Hope, excitement, and conviction that your book is needed in the world, and that it will change readers’ lives for the better.
• A big chunk of writing: DONE! Including sample chapters you can share with agents to see if they’re interested in representing you.
• Plus, the templates and education you need to write a book proposal that makes agents and publishers go, “WHOA. This book sounds amazing. Let’s talk more.”

• Fly into the Lisbon Airport.
• Arrive on Monday, April 20. We’ll have a welcome reception that evening.  
• Depart on Friday, April 24. We’ll have a farewell brunch on departure day. After brunch, farewell, and safe travels back home! 
• Or, extend your stay in Portugal and do sight-seeing, visit beaches, or do more writing.

Your hotel stay during the retreat is included ONLY if you sign up for the program by or before Friday, June 20, 2025. 

If you sign up after that date, you’ll need to locate and book your own accommodations. 

We recommend that you stay at the Legacy Hotel Cascais, but it’s up to you!

We can’t guarantee that you’ll get a book deal. Nobody can guarantee that. 

However, you’re far more likely to get a deal if…

• You have a strong book proposal that convinces publishers that your book is needed in the world right now, and will be a strong seller.
• You have a sample of your book manuscript (1-3 chapters) that’s compelling and exciting to read.  
• You have personal relationships with literary agents, editors, authors, and other people in the publishing industry who can open doors for you.
• You understand what publishers are looking for and how to position yourself and pitch your book idea successfully. 
• You have a tenacious attitude, and you’re willing to be rejected 1, 2, 3, or even 20 times in a row if that’s what it takes to eventually find someone who says, “Yes.” 

By doing the Million Dollar Author program, you get all the ingredients we just mentioned. 

Back in 2019, Rachel signed up for a program similar to this one, and left with crucial insights and relationships that helped her get her first book deal. 

Doing this program doesn’t mean your publishing deal is guaranteed. 

But, it means you’re significantly increasing the likelihood that you’ll get the book deal of your dreams. 

Yes, it’s possible to earn $1,000,000 as an author. 

Do most authors achieve this? No. It’s rare. 

Is it attainable? Yes. 

How do you reach this number? Through a combination of:

• Your book advance, which can be anywhere from $25,000 to $250,000 or more, depending on your credentials and platform.
• Royalties: the percentage you earn from every book sold, which can range from 5% to 25% of the book’s retail price, or the publisher's net revenue after discounts, depending on your agreement.
• Paid speaking engagements ($10,000 to $50,000 per keynote and up) resulting from your book.
• Creating an offer (course, program, service, product, etc.) that readers want to buy immediately after they finish your book. 

Many authors struggle to make any money or only make a little. But some make a LOT. We want you to be in that second category! With good planning, and an entrepreneurial spirit, you CAN.
